Youth in Seguton, Nakuru county on Saturday morning burnt a lorry said to be transporting stolen cattle.
The lorry was torched at Seguton shopping centre after being intercepted by the youth following reports that it left Kuresoi ferrying stolen cattle and was headed to Nairobi.
The owner of the stolen cattle, Francis Talam who arrived at the scene where the lorry was torched confirmed the 15 heads of cattle recovered inside the lorry were his.
"I received a phone call from a neighbour who said he was in my compound but was not seeing my cattle," Talam said.
"After a few minutes, I received another call that stolen cattle had been intercepted at Seguton. I rushed and indeed found they were mine,"headded.
Kuresoi is among areas in Kenya which are insecure and incidents of cattle rustling and tribal clashes are common in the area.
Area MCA Benard Tesot condemned the incident promising thorough investigations will be carried to establish those behind the theft of the cattle.
He said reports had indicated the cattle were being transported to Nairobi where they would have been sold to butchery owners.
The livestock were recovered about two kilometers from Mr Talam's home.
