There was a beehive of activity in Lodwar town on Friday as residents prepared to welcome ODM party leader Raila Odinga.
Mr Odinga is expected to visit the far-flung county on Saturday.
He will be hosted by Governor Josephat Nanok.
Raila visits Turkana a day after Meru Governor and Council of Governors Chairman Peter Munya officiated at an event in the county.
He was the chief guest during the Turkana Cultural Festival held on Thursday.
Munya has declared he will contest for the presidency in 2022.
He has rubbed shoulders with Meru Senator Kiraitu Murungi who is against the move.
Nanok was elected on an ODM ticket in 2013 and is among governors who have remained loyal to the orange party.
Raila received more votes in Turkana county during the 2013 general election more than any other presidential candidate.
The county is now prominent on the global map following the discovery of oil there.
