A youth group in Masinga, Machakos County is calling on the department of natural resources in the county to support them to ensure development in the county is embraced by the youths.
The group 'Masinga Youth Coccus' mandate is to ensure that the youths in the area support development project initiated by both the county government and the national government in the area.
Speaking after visiting the Masinga sub county administrator the forum led by their chair Isaac Ngoma on Monday says that the sub county administrator ignored them and told them that he will not serve them as they required.
The youths visited the sub county administrator Lazarus Kivuva to inquire on a request they had made earlier to him to call a meeting of all natural resources Saccos stakeholders.
The aim of calling the meeting was to establish what the stakeholders are doing to develop Masinga sub-county following the revenue they get out of selling the natural resources in the area.
“We had requested him to call a meeting where we could meet the Community Sacco stakeholders to establish what they do with the revenue they collect out of the natural resources including sand in the area, they collect a lot of money but we don't know where they take it,” Isaac said.
Kivuva either denied claims that he refused to work with the youths but that he told them that what they wanted was not under his mandate.
“I didn't say I will not serve them, what I told them is that what they needed is not under my docket that should be done by somebody more senior than I am,” he said.
He either challenged the youths who visited his office to prove who elected them and whom they are representing since they were just four youths
