The chairman of Mariakani Youth Group Benson Kinyua spoke at the group’ss office today, observing that many local  talented youth are unable to exploit their talents due to lack of social amenities like social halls and sports centers.

Kinyua noted that the stalled construction of the project was a big hindrance to talent exploration among the local youth.

“We are demanding that the government through the Ministry of Sports and Culture or usually Constituency Development Fund completes this stalled building. We are wasting a lot of talent that can be tapped to keep our youth busy and empowered economically,” said Kinyua.

Kinyua promised that his group would soon liaise with other youth groups and members of the public in the area to protest over stalled projects.

Kinyua also petitioned local elected leaders and elders to come clean over allegations that the piece of land on which the stalled building stands had been sold to a private individual. A fact, he says, that has hindered completion of the project.

Kinyua noted that the hall would be an ideal place for social functions and activities like drama, music, indoor games, art and craft exhibitions, and reading tents which could help solve some of the social economic problems that face local youth.
