A youth group from Kitutu Masaba constituency has launched a sensitisation campaign that aims at reaching more youths engaging in criminal related activities and subsequently integrating them to the society.

The group dubbed “United against Crime” is sponsored by aspiring MP Victor Swanya and is expected to reach all the six wards in the region.

Led by the group chairman on Sunday, the youth group urged youths to abandon crime and join economically viable activities that do do not endanger their lives.

“We are determined to reach more youths who are reportedly engaging in crime and help them integrate with the society. There are many activities that do not endanger lives which they can do. We will traverse the constituency and reach our target, possibly 100 for a start,” said Ken Morumbwa.

Morumbwa said those who were willing to abandon crime would be helped to set up businesses, with those willing to join technical and other institutions getting a chance to pursue their dreams.

“We are going to assess the potential of those who will be willing to abandon crime and possibly help then start business but we will not close doors for those who will be willing to go to class,” he said.

The program will start at Gesima ward before spreading to Gachuba, Manga, Rigoma, Kemera and Magombo and is expected to take three months.
