“We are excited to have got this invitation. This is a milestone for our group’s agenda and we are calling on the local leaders and the government to sponsor us attend this important youth conference,’’ said Waweru.
The conference is organised by the African Regional Youth Initiative (ARYI), a nongovernmental organisation based in Dar el Salaam. The theme of the conference according to Waweru will be; Empowering Africa’s Youth for Leadership and Development.
The Ministry of Youth, Sports and Culture of Tanzania government is sponsoring the conference that will bring together youth leaders from across the continent.
Waweru added: “About ten members will attend the conference and present papers on youth agenda in Kenya. Our presentations have a special attention on Nakuru based youth.”
He said that the group that was started early last year to address the plight of youth in Nakuru East, will largely benefit from the conference’s proceedings as it will share experience, knowledge and networking in youth agenda management and matters across the continent.
