Speaking on Tuesday at the site, Mwamonari youth group chairperson Paul Momanyi urged police force to help them save the project.

“Our trees have been cut down without our knowledge. We are urging the police to help us identify the thieves since the project cost us,” said Momanyi.

According to Momanyi the theft may affect their income once the trees are mature something may make it difficult for them to repay the loan.

The group had taken a loan from Equity bank Kisii branch while undertaking the project.

“The heinous act has been being carried out at night. We have tried to lay a trap but we have not succeeded. It seems the thieves are conversant with the area security,” notes Momanyi.

The group condemned the area provincial administration for failing to take action despite the group reporting about the issue severally.
