Nakuru youth have condemned the recent extra judicial killings by the police.
URP leader Hassan Haji termed it as unfortunate that the police, who were meant to protect Kenyans were the ones who were turning against the people.
He termed the increased number of people being killed by the government as alarming.
“Why would a government kill its own people? “ he quipped.
Hajji called for an analysis into the system, saying it was unfortunate that most of them were ready to kill at the first instinct instead of looking out to protect vulnerable Kenyans.
“A police should not kill anyone but should instead arrest them and take them to court. Unfortunately we have a new breed of trigger happy police men who end up killing anyone on the streets if given an opportunity,” he added.
He called for an overhaul of the police sector, saying that they should be vetted and their credentials checked before they are allowed into the service.
Nakuru youth advisor to the governor Kimani wa Kimani said that there should also be given certificate of good conducts by a higher authority.
“Its unfortunate that they are the ones who test our credibility and right standing with the government and yet they are carrying a backlog of so many criminal activities,” he added.

They were speaking to the press after Eid Mubarak prayers at Afraha Stadium where they challenged the government to come up with a strict code of ethics for the police force.
“There should be serious repercussions for anyone who is caught in the wrong side of the law,” said Hajji.
