Residents of Machakos County have been urged to seize social media insults to avoid political polarizing among locals in the region.
The call was made by Standardized Youth Group Organizing Secretary Patrick Muteti.
Speaking to the group members in Athi River town on Tuesday, Muteti said that rate at which the residents especially the youths were insulting one another on Facebook was increasingly wanting.
Muteti said majority of those who engage in online insults disagree on political ideologies given that they support different politicians and political parties or coalitions.
He said those who insult others or one another on social media misuse freedom of expression through misuse of communication devices which is against the rule of law.
Muteti warned that if the malpractice continues,it might inflict violence among residents especially at this time when the country is headed to intense politically campaigns ahead of the forthcoming 2017 general elections.
He urged the youth not to allow themselves to be misused by politicians only to be dumped once the latter clinch political positions that they are fighting for.
