The Mombasa youth league leaders under the Kenya Communities Support Centre (KECOSE) have decried failure by ward representatives to involve them in the budgeting process.
Speaking to Baraka FM in Mombasa and journalists on Friday, the youth took issue with the manner in which the county budget committee sidelined them, noting that the MCAs had only focused more on their send off packages.
"If you look at the Mombasa County budget, the MCAs focused on their send off packages. Last year they did the same by allocating more of car and mortgage allowances. The majority of them are sure they would not make it back to the county assembly. That shows how determined they are to leave Mombasa residents who pay tax with huge debt," said Rashid Mohammed the youth leader.
The budget has faced wrangles from interested parties and it has led to friction in the process. (Youth leadership of Mombasa addressing journalists in Mombasa. They have decried the sidelining of them under KECOSE in the budget 2016-17.
