The Kipsigs community of Transmara East and the Kisiis of Nyaribari Masaba have periodically been at war, which seems to escalate with time.

By Monday morning in Ikorongo village, Masaba sub-county of Kisii, 45 cows were stolen, 6 houses reduced to ashes, several people injured, amongst them a university student who was on recess, and two people killed, one being a 17-year-old boy.

"It is sad to lose our people to clashes at this century. We have started peace talks with representatives from both communities. We ask area leaders to join us. The county governments have assured us support," said Mr Anthony Nyabera, a youth peace ambassador cum community worker, who currently presides over Pioneer Youth Africa-Kenya chapter.

The area MP Hon Elijah Moindi who is said to be out of the country, could not be reached on phone
