The lobby wants schools, churches, health centres and market places to be included since there is massive destruction of trees and other pastures in the fast developing estates of Mawanga, Teachers, Kiamaina, Makao, Muchanganyiko, Keratina, Lanet and Free Area.

Mawanga Youth Agenda (MYA) chairman Antony Gitonga says environmental issues have been neglected by the government and other stakeholders.

The lobby group says it will present a proposal it has drafted to all stakeholders to facilitate sponsorship of the project titled; Greening Nakuru East. The officials of the youth group that champions for the plight of the local youth said that lack of trees in the region causes massive erosion and flooding.

“This project will not only aim at environmental sustainability but also provide employment opportunities for the hundreds of unemployed youth,” said Gitonga.

Recently, the lobby group condemned local security leaders and elders for claiming that local youth were lazy and indulged in drinking and criminal activities. They said local government and leaders were the ones to blame as they had failed to create employment opportunities.
