The infamous Otamba declaration that seeks to unite the community has been widely criticised by a section of leaders from both Nyamira and Kisii counties saying it is not inclusive.

And on Wednesday, a group of youths from both Kisii and Nyamira County rallied behind the ODM national treasurer saying he has all qualities to unite the community.

“Honestly, we have assessed our leaders, known their weaknesses and strengths and to us, Bosire has exceptional qualities to lead the community towards the desired unity,” said Jackson Momanyi on their behalf.

“He never plays clan politics and treats all members of the community equally regardless of our diverse political backgrounds. He should take charge and immediately start the process of brings the community together,” he added.

They accused the leaders behind the Otamba declaration of failing to involve all stakeholders and vowed to paralyse all activities that could be planned by the group.

“As youths, we don’t recognise the Otamba declaration because it wasn’t inclusive. We want visionary leaders who share ideas widely with the electorate and not just sitting somewhere in Nairobi purporting to represent us. We will write to Bosire and request him to initiate the process,” Momanyi said.

The youth backing comes a few months after a section of elected leaders among them Nyamira MCAs echoed similar sentiments even though Bosire has remained silent over the matter.
