Speaking during the issuance of the documents to 360 boda boda operators and 190 motor vehicle trained drivers, in Athi River town on Friday, the area Member of Parliament, Patrick Makau, said the initiative was intended to empower youth with employable life skills thereby improving their livelihoods.

Makau said rates of accidents had reduced in the region since his office launched the project in the constituency a while ago.

He said the fund continues to train more youth in the constituency since there is high demand stating revealing that the training also instills discipline among the youth.

The legislature noted that the project had helped improve security in the constituency arguing numbers of idle youth had tremendously reduced due to the initiative.

He said he was committed in ensuring that youth from the region were well educated, trained and issued with certificates which would enable them secure credible jobs.
