Kisii county governor James Ongwae has laid out his second term agenda where he pledged to ensure that the county creates more than 10,000 jobs so that they can end the current unemployment rate that is on the rise.
According to the governor, he will ensure that he provides Local Purchase Order (LPO) financing for the youth to enable them actualise the 30 percent government allocation for tenders reserved for the youth.
Addressing a number of youths at Kisii county hall on Wednesday the Governor said employment opportunities will be opened up to fresh college and university graduates.
He scoffed at the work experience requirement as a tool that has always been used to disadvantage the youth from securing employment.
“In any case, the so called ‘experience’ is in many cases an accumulation of outdated public service habits that are no longer relevant or applicable in our current times. Innovation and creativity must be encouraged to revolutionise service delivery,” he added
He said the youth must be given the opportunity to work, learn and gain experience and added priority in recruitment will be given to graduates possessing the necessary academic qualifications coupled with a passion to work zealously.
