Mavoko Constituency MP Patrick Makau has urged youth from the constituency to take advantage of available resources and apply for driving school sponsorships for diversified life skills.

Addressing press in at his office on Friday, Makau said that his office had allocated adequate funds to support the project.

"Mavoko CDF office has allocated adequately enough funds to support the driving project, youth should therefore take advantage of the opportunity and apply for sponsorship in large numbers as a way of preparing to increasing their chances of getting jobs instead of loitering around,” said Makau.

Makau said the intention of such unique projects in his constituency was to ensure residents especially youth from the region were empowered.

He argued that the skills were very necessary more so for the youth to enable them make ends meet even if they fail to get formal jobs since they would still earn livelihoods.

The MP said his office was not discriminative as long as the applicants met basic requirements of being a Mavoko constituency resident with ability to read and write.

He said he was committed to ensuring that the project positively changed livelihoods of the youth given that most residents had not exploited the transport industry.

He said those who had successfully trained had lots of options to apply their skills as drivers in various companies.
