“Participation of youth in diverse cultural activities like dancing and poetry recitation creates a situation where youth exploit their talents and enhance moral values in our generation,” said Kimani.

Speaking on Sunday at Kiamaina shopping centre during the annual talent show by the members of the club, Kimani said that cultural activities among the youth should be encouraged to enhance continuation of African heritage.

“Without youths' participation in our cultural activities, our African cultures are on the brink of collapse,” said Kimani.

Kimani urged for more participation of youth in cultural festivity to stem the effects of westernisation from eroding our cultural diversity

“Our cultural heritage is under threat from Western ideologies which are eroding our moral values, to preserve our rich cultural diversity, youth need to protect it by ignoring West influence from infecting our cultures,” added Kimani.

He also said that youth participation in cultural activities would reduce cases of crime, as more youth will have something to do

“We have witnessed a tremendous achievement among the youth who participate in cultural activities because they do not engage in crimes,” said Kimani.

Kimani further urged the Nakuru County government to set more funds for the establishment of cultural centres to incubate talented youth.

“We have talented youth in various cultural disciplines but we lack the capacity to enhance their talents, we want the county government to step in and support us financially to help our youth to realise their dreams,” added Kimani.

The occasion was attended by over 200 youths aged 13-19 years, who displayed astonishing mastery presentation in various cultural disciplines like folk dance, recitation of poems and drama.
