Bahati Music Band member Peter Kamande has urged youth in Nakuru County to invest in music.
Speaking on Tuesday at Bahati Trading Centre during a music show, Kamande said that lack of public awareness has contributed to slow uptake of the profession.
“Our youth are rarely exposed to the importance of the music industry,” said Kamande.
He encouraged youths with talents to grab the opportunity since it will save them from poverty.
“Days are gone when music was viewed as avenue of drop outs and failures,” said Kamande adding that music industry is doing well.
Kamande said that the industry has benefited many youth because they are making a living from it.
“Music industry has ceased to be a struggling profession and it has become a lucrative avenue where youth are making a living,” said Kamande.
He urged the government to promote local music which is under threat from well-established foreign music.
“The government should stop flow of foreign music to our country to protect our local artist,” said Kamande.
