The National Youth Council (NYC) Kisii branch has now urged youth across the country to avoid political associations that go against the constitution.

Speaking at Kisii sports club on Thursday the council officials said the law gives everyone the right to picket, but without being disruptive while exercising their democratic right.

Led by NYC coordinator Charles Mr Charles Mogaka they blamed the current upsurge of crime in Kisii to widespread unemployment especially among the youth, promising to engage the area governor to discuss solutions to the matter.

Mogaka urged the government to fulfill its manifesto on the youth by including them in the remaining cabinet positions and board membership appointments.

“The president should formulate a state department for the youth, as they have unique needs requiring special attention,” said Mogaka

He asked that the government to ensure that the youth are not overshadowed once the Women Enterprise Development Fund and Uwezo kitties are merged.

The council also urged the government to put in place measures that would exempt the youth from the various fees required during job application processes such as paying for the certificates of good conduct, credit reference bureau, university loan clearance, and others.
