The founder of Paul Matheka Foundation, Paul Matheka has called upon the youth to avoid idleness which highly leads to indulgence in drugs abuse.
Speaking on Tuesday in Kambi ya Ndege village, Kithimani Ward in Yatta sub-county, Matheka encouraged the youth to indulge in development focused groups so as to earn income.
"I have been meeting with the youth from this wards and we have encouraged one another to keep focused and form Sacco's that will help in developing our lifestyles," said Matheka.
The chairman of the non-governmental foundation further collaborated with the boda boda operators and have a plan to form a business Sacco with the operators.
"We have planned to begin a young business Sacco with the boda boda operators and small business people so as to enable empowerment in a bad day to avoid idleness leading to drug abuse," he added.
Matheka further promised to continue working with the youth in Yatta sub-county in order to fight poverty.
"When we empower our youth we fight poverty as when people are busy and earn money, drug abuse and crime level decreases and will continue to roll out the program," he concluded.
