Kamau expressed concern over use of extravagant use of the loans by some youth. Speaking today at Ikinu Shopping Center during a bazar , Kamau warned those misusing the loans tough actions .

“It has come to my attention that some youth have inappropriately used the loan by involving them in drinking sprees. How will one pay a loan if he indulges in a drinking spree?” said Kamau.

The administrator reminded the youth that the loan was repayable and urged them to exercise caution in using it. The chief urged the youth to use the funds to start income-generating projects that would change their lives.

“Uwezo is not a grant or a hand out , but it’s a loan that is intended to be repaid. I don't want to see auctioneers coming to auction your hard earned property for lack of failure to pay the loan,” said Kamau.

The administrator hailed the government-funded initiative as a land mark in addressing the poverty among the youth .

“The level of poverty index in Ikinu has reduced due to the fund,” said Kamau.
