Youth in Kisumu have been urged to consider alternative ways of combating joblessness even as the same remains a big challenge in the county.
Speaking on phone to this writer on Monday, Nyalenda B Ward representative James Were said youth in the lakeside county could take advantage of their technological know-how to register companies.
He also said the youth should fight for the 30 per cent county government’s allocation of public tenders to the marginalised groups by registering and applying for various service and product based tenders.
“Unemployment is a biting issue across the country. The youth must not wait for political leaders and of course the county government to make opportunities,” he said.
“The youth can instead take a proactive step in creating job openings. They can always register either service or product based companies, which they can use to fight for opportunities rather than wait for jobs,” added the MCA.
