Youths in Nakuru want politicians engaged in voter bribery prosecuted.
They youths claim that laxity by the government to take legal action against them has often seen many “unfit” leaders elected.
“We saw a lot of voter bribery especially in the recent by elections where politicians were caught on camera with hordes of cash but that was the end. No one was taken before a law court and charged with bribery,”said Engineer Victor Ngatia.
Ngatia said such a loophole in the election laws has led to polticians engaging in voter bribery.
“I would also propose they be barred from being in the ballot boxes in case they are arrested while bribing the voters,” said Joseph Mwaura.
Victor Tanui called for empowerment of the youth in the grassroot to empower them make sound political judgement.
“Many of the youths have been brainwashed into thinking that cash can buy power. We should train them to ask for values and not for cash from the politicians,” he added
