Among them were Goigoi Youth Group and Maera Women Group who exuded confidence that now they will be able to unlock themselves from the shackles of poverty.

"Ours has been always the lack of capital to start our project," Paul Mwangi, a member of the Goigoi Youth Group said.

He added: "We have always wanted to rear small bulls and then sell them to butchers on maturity. Now that we got this money, we will be able to make our dream become a reality."

Kihagi asked more youths to form and register groups so that they can apply for the money instead of idling around and taking drugs.

"Youth have got no excuse to turn to drugs and crime. This money is for their empowerment," Kihagi said.
