Morothile Ward, Mandera MCA Mr Abdullahi Yunis Guliye’s political stars shone bright when he was declared the winner of the August general elections.

Guliye has become the talk of Mandera County after defying the elders’ choice through negotiated democracy to win a seat as MCA. When Guliye declared his interest in politics, nobody ever thought he will make it to the county assembly.

Today the lawmaker, who is a certified Public Accountant and a graduate from the Kenya Methodist University, has confirmed that indeed all dreams are valid regardless of where you come from.

In an interview with a local daily, Guliye said that he was floored during nominations but he never gave his dream.

“I contested in 2013 elections but lost due to council of elders’ endorsement but this time round locals have come of age and understand that elders have no political role,” he said, as quoted by Nation.

When asked why he joined the game of politics, Guliye said that he wanted to use his influence to help his people when it comes to matters of development.

He also launched an attack on the elders saying that they have become a stumbling block to youths and women who want to pursue their dreams in life.
