Youths from Uriri Constituency holding small micro-enterprise skills are to benefit from tools and equipment worth Sh5 million courtesy of Ministry of industrialization in collaboration with Uriri Youth Polytechnic in the constituency.

The equipment, which includes construction equipment, welding machines and iron cutting machines are expected to benefit youths with relevant skills.

Speaking during the launch of this programme in Uriri Youth polytechnic, Uriri Member of Parliament Eng John Kobado said that all youths working in Jua Kali industries will have the opportunity to use the equipment, that will see them boost their source of income.

He further noted that the youths will only pay a small amount of money for maintenance of these equipment, adding that they are in the process of constructing structures within the polytechnic, which will house these micro-enterprise youth operators.

Kabado also said that youths without technical skills will get the opportunity to acquire skills freely, so that they can also earn a living.

The legislator said that most youths in the constituency are jobless, and that they only concentrate on bodaboda operation to earn a living.

He said the workshops will create a lot of job opportunities to the youths, reducing joblessness in the process.

Uriri is the only constituency in the entire Migori County, which has benefited from this government project that targets three constituencies in the greater Nyanza region.
