Youths have been blamed for the increased rates of unemployment among them
.According to Bob Kibichi Tanui representing Uasin Gishu youths in the Youth Senate Kenya, youths have refused to join Sacco’s for them to be empowered financially but instead only wait for white collar jobs that are scarce
.“I want to urge youths to join Sacco for them to access loans at reasonable rates for them to start the business that will boost their economic status and help them grow economically,” he said in Eldoret town, Thursday.
He added: “Youths should refrain from the norm that Sacco’s are meant for businessmen let us embrace it since it has more good than harm."
He, however, urged youths to take advantage of available opportunities to create jobs for themselves.“
Youths should also create employment opportunities for themselves, by taking advantage of tenders given out by the county government, especially with the 30 percent allocation for youth, women, and persons with disabilities,” he added.
He reiterated youths should also venture into the formation of companies and apply for government tenders instead of continuously looking for employment.
