Kisumu youths have been challenged to apply for Uwezo funds to enable them initiate projects that would see them grow economically.
Nominated MCA Lydia odhiambo challenged the youths to take Uwezo fund seriously, by applying and making sure they use it appropriately.
Speaking on Tuesday during a forum meant to create awareness to lobby groups at Social hall in Kisumu, Odhiambo challenged youths to take the funds seriously, saying some groups have greatly benefited from the money.
“It is my plea to our youths to form youth groups and register them in order to attract funding like the uwezo fund as it was much beneficial to them,” said Odhiambo.
Alive Today Youth group chairperson Robert otieno also challenged fellow youths to apply for such funds, saying it will help them in running various projects they initiate.
He further stated that the fund would help reduce high rate of idleness among youths, and also creating job opportunities through running of ongoing projects.
“We need to improve our status by using the funding that would see projects initiated are accomplished, this can be enhanced by us applying for the Uwezo fund to tap more fundings,”said Otieno.
