Residents of Borabu in Nyamira County have been urged to stop planting trees near water sources as one way of taking care of the environment.

Speaking when he paid visits to various development projects he has sponsored in the area, lawyer Alfasad Mogikoyo called on the residents to stop planting plants that take up a lot of water.

He asked the youth in the area to come up with ideas that will help them get more funds, and promised to continue working with them and helping where he can.

“We have many youths out there who are looking for jobs and you should wake up and start doing things that can help you and not waiting for employment,” he said.

Mogikoyo has built water sources in all the four wards located in Riamosocho, Riamatara, Mongoli, Riarasugu and Kiabonyoru, adding that he built the water sources to ensure residents get clean water to avoid different diseases.

He also said that he has set up a greenhouse for the youth in Kebirigo, and also bought them a car wash pump machine, further urging them to make good use of them.

He also called on the people of Nyamira to team up and work together.
