The vocal administrator from Nyamira County Francis Rasugu  on Sunday said the policy will take effect as from 1st June and  summoned all village elders and community policing members to his office for an impromptu meeting to discuss the way forward after the Madaraka Day celebrations.

He said many youths have ventured into alcohol with majority reported to be trading illicit drugs in the region and partly blaming the vice to rising insecurity in the region.

“I am fed up with the rate our youths are taking alcohol and other illicit drugs. This trend is unacceptable and I want to warn those engaging in the activity of a possible community work for three months,” said Rasugu.

However, a section of youths dared him and cautioned him of ‘igniting endless war’ besides urging him to retire peacefully.

“We are tired of this constant intimidation from this man. He has ignited an endless war because we have been following the law in taking alcohol. He should instead look for criminals who have been harassing residents,” said James Arasa.
