About 600 youths in Kisii County are set to benefit from the National Youth Service (NYS) jobs initiative that will initiate various government projects across Kisii County.
This follows the president’s directive that local youth should be recruited to participate in the project.
In an interview today with NYS county director, Steve Masese they have already identified a number of projects that the youths will help to implement and he called for cooperation from the area youths.
“We have already recruited a good number of youths across Kisii County and we expect to add the number to make up to 600 for now” he said.
The officer stated that the youths will be able to receive a payment of sh 500 per day that will help them improve their livelihoods instead of getting into crime.
“All we want is to engage the youths in Kisii so that they cannot get into crime for now and in the days to come,” Masese said.
He said that they will be carrying intensive clean up of Kisii markets and also help in initiating government projects.
