Youths in Nakuru West constituency have adopted a unique way of fighting tribalism by bringing youths from different tribes to engage in tree planting within the area.
Led by Victor Ngatia, the youth said through tree planting, they want to send a message of unity and peace throughout the constituency.
Speaking Monday during a tree planting session in London Ward, the youths said the trees will serve as a symbol of unity among different tribes living in Nakuru West.
“The trees we are planting will act as a symbol of unity among the people of Nakuru West who are from diverse tribes and we want to tell them that tribe shouldn’t be something to divide us. It should instead unite us,” said Ngatia.
“These trees are being planted by youths from different tribes and all of them will grow and they will benefit the whole community and that is the message we want to send: that as tribes we can come together and engage in things that will be beneficial to all of us,” he added.
The tree planting initiative is expected to cover the entire constituency in the next two months.
