The youths claim that they were left out of the campaign teams.

Speaking on Wednesday at Ruaka town, the youth asked President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto to reconstitute the teams and involve youths.

According to the youth, ‘old fashioned’ politicians have been selected to drum up support for the Party and Uhuru’s re-election in 2017.

Charles Mburu, Ruaka Jubilee youth coordinator said that the recently unveiled Jubilee campaign teams did consider young people.

“We are worried and concerned because as young people we have not been included in the Jubilee party campaign teams,” he said.

Mburu said that the party is likely to suffer if it does not consider and involve young people in its activities.

“It is unfortunate that the party did not involve us in the selection of campaign teams yet we are the people who have the votes and support base on the ground,” said Stephen Karanja, a student leader at a local college in Kiambu.

Karanja said that the newly launched Jubilee Party will succeed if it put the interests of young people first.

“From the time when parties were merging to form Jubilee, our advice and views as young people were not considered,” he added.

The youth have now threatened not to be part of the newly launched party is their interests are not addressed immediately.

They want President Kenyatta to include young people in the campaign team if he values their interests.

Jubilee Party unveiled its campaign teams last week.

Already a section of politicians allied to the Jubilee party are raising reservations on the modalities used to pick the campaign teams.

The politicians claim that most of the people selected to lead the campaigns have declared interest to vie for political seats hence questioning their ability to deliver without conflict of interest.

In Kiambu, the Jubilee party campaigns will be led and coordinated by Thika MP Alice Ng’ang’a.

Already several politicians have opposed Ng’ang’a as the lead Jubilee campaigner in Kiambu saying she is seeking re-election as MP and that she might use the chance to intimidate other aspirants eyeing her seat.
