Speaking to residents after inspecting development projects on Thursday, the MCA raised concerns over the unwillingness of the youths to take part in development.

He stated that many youths have shown no interest in seeking development funds from both the county and national government a move he said is not good especially in the fight against unemployment.

“It beats the logic that the government has invested in many projects for the youths yet most of are not willing to embrace the opportunities,” he said.

The MCA asked area youths to stop negative perceptions about the government and instead work with it to foster development.

He stated that unemployment and crime will be curbed if young people take up seriously the opportunities being provided by the state.

The MCA at the same time asked the government to sensitise the youths on the funds being provided. He indicated that most of them have no information on how to apply and seek the money.

“I want to appeal to both the county and the national government to educate youths on these funds,” he said.

The MCA said that youths are the future leaders and that they should be well mentored and encouraged on the challenges of life.

He observed that society has neglected its role in shaping the young people a situation he said has seen many join drug peddling, alcohol abuse and prostitution among other social evils.
