A section of youths allied to Kisii County Governor James Ongwae had a bad day on Saturday, October 1 after an angry crowd landed on them with a serious beating for allegedly intending to disrupt a church fundraising.
The fundraising was being held at Manyansi SDA Church grounds in Monyerero Ward, Kitutu Chache North Constituency of Kisii County, and it was being led by 'Omogusii Unity' leaders.
In attendance were; Charles Nyachae, Senator Chris Obure, Deputy Governor Joash Maangi and area MP Jimmy Angwenyi with all Jubilee-affiliated Gusii leaders.
When the Ongwae youths arrived, led by a John Otao, a section of men allegedly on hire handpicked them one by one giving them all sorts of beating- canes, slaps and kicks- in the eyes of the crowd and leaders.
Those who were seen to be injured are Abraham Osero (Kenyatta University Student) and Walter Bundi (a student at the former Gusii Institute of Technology) as others vanished into thin air.
Angwenyi cautioned anybody with intentions of disrupting the event any further, or even any in future of such kind.
"I am a man of courage. You can not intend to ashame me at my home in front of my friends.Try it with anybody else but not me," he said.
The act was hailed and condemned in equal measure, as it took the lead in discussions across all social media platforms later in the day
