The county government of Uasin Gishu has revealed plans to train over 3,000 youths across the county on the use of internet for job creation and job search.

The initiative will also see Information, Communication and Technology (ICT) centres established.

According to Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago, the move is meant to ensure youths make good use of internet for their benefit.

"Most youths spend a lot of time on Facebook and other social media platforms which don't add any value to their lives and we want to train them on how they can use the internet to create jobs and also for searching jobs," Mandago said in Eldoret, Tuesday.

"We intent to be training one hundred youths per ward per year on this issue," he added.

The governor further said his administration is working on the possibility of putting up free Wi-Fi in some parts of the Eldoret town.

"We are working on upgrading our ICT systems including providing free Wi-Fi in designated areas within the CBD and other urban centres to enhance access to information and services,'' Mandago added.
