Uasin Gishu Deputy Governor Daniel Chemno has urged youths to spearhead environment conservation in the county.

Speaking to Hivisasa in his office on Monday, Chemno challenged the youth to take interest in environment and conservation.

He said the county government was in the process of started initiating environmental conservation campaigns where the youth will play a key role.

“We need young people to be part of the environment conservation campaigns so that they can push the agenda forward,” he said.

Chemno said that environmental conservation is key to socio-economic development.

He noted that protecting the environment should be a responsibility of every patriotic Kenyan. The Deputy Governor cautioned residents against polluting their environment.

He said the county government was coming up with better ways of waste disposal and management.

“We want to clean up our streets and estates so that we can have a clean environment,” he said.

The deputy governor said that the county is partnering with government agencies and private stakeholders to conserve environment.
