Youths in Nyamira County have been asked to borrow government loans to help them start businesses.
Nyamira County commissioner Isaiah Nakoru said many youths in the County are idling in villages blaming the government for lack of employment.
“Youths should apply for government loans to help them start small businesses to improve livelihoods instead of idling in villages blaming the government for failing to address unemployment,” he said.
Nakoru said it is not everyone who should be employed to work in offices.
The commissioner challenged leaders to engage the youths, especially when initiating development projects to keep them busy.
“Many youths have engaged in crime because they don’t have work to do. Leaders should consider engaging the young people to help end crime,” he added.
