Youth in Bahati Ward, Nakuru North have been urged to invest in pig farming to grow their wealth portfolio.
Addressing the youth on Monday at Wanyoro B shopping centre during a handing over of 50 pigs to four youth groups, Daniel Kariuki, the chairman of Wanyoro B Youth Pig Group said that pig farming has high returns and the youth should embrace it too enable them generate income.
“Investments in pigs are paying well and the youth should be encouraged to embrace it,” said Kariuki.
He urged the youth to invest in the sub livestock industry as it has not being fully exploited and offers less cut throat competition.
“The pig farming has less competition in relation to other types of farming,” said Kariuki.
He also urged the youth not to shun agriculture as it offers wide range of employment opportunities.
Kariuki added, “The opportunities in agriculture are immense and there is great potential for growth.”
He called on the groups who benefited from the initiative to make use of the opportunities ‘to brighten their future’.
Wanyoro B Youth Pig Group is made of four youth groups with a membership of 150. The members have pooled together their resources to venture into pig farming.
