Youths have been urged to utilise their time wisely in cybercafés and avoid from being trapped by pornography,
Kiamaina Chief Peter Kariuki has said that many youths are misusing internet contents and indulging in perpetrating crime under the influence of pornography.
“Youth are involving themselves in reckless sex after watching video contents from internet,” said Kariuki.
Speaking on Wednesday at Kiamaina Trading Centre during a public meeting, Kariuki said that the uncontrollable use of internet has made many youth hardcore criminals in the society.
He said that the wide spread use of internet has had negative impact to youth.
“Many of our youth have been influenced by pornography which has a negative impact to the society,” said Kariuki.
Kariuki urged parents to take charge of their parental responsibilities in upholding their children's moral dignity.
He however said that the youth should use internet responsibly especially in e- learning which supplements teachers' homework.
“Youth should use internet to learn variable information like best practices in learning,” said the chief.
He further urged youth to put into practice what they acquire from internet to improve their chances of success.
“Internet should be used to create value in our lives like accessing information that improve the lives of users,” said Kariuki,
The meeting was convened after outcry by parents in the Kiamana slum who claim that their children have invaded cybercafés to download pornography.
