Kiambu County Governor William Kabogo has called on the youth to venture into business and create employment in the year 2015, to eradicate the ever-present menace of unemployment.
The county boss said that youths venture into crime due to idleness, and noted that he will be willing to involve them in small businesses for their benefit.
Kabogo said that his government is keen in promoting and supporting youths in business ideas, urging them to visit his office for business tips.
“Come to my office, we have sufficient staffs who are business oriented and entrepreneurs who will guide you in your small businesses to flourish,” said Kabogo.
Kabogo, who was speaking on Tuesday in Juja sub-county, where he attended the funeral service of the late brother to the Kiambu Women representative Mike Gathecha, added that crime in Kiambu has been on the increase this year, with areas like Kiandutu slums, Ngoingwa, in the outskirt of Thika town and Kiganjo recording high cases of crime.
He said that measures have been put in place this New Year, where he will beef up security and even fire officers who do not work.
“This new year, we will not relent, my government has strategies in place to beef up security even if it means hiring new private and civilians’ detectives,” he added.
He however hailed Kiambu county police Commander Peter Mugera for being vigilant and tightening up security, but urged him to do more.
He also lauded Thika west OCPD Shadrack Maithya and Deputy county Commissioner Jeremiah Gicheru for a job well done in revoking licenses of bars and restaurants that promote strippers and immorality in the county, saying that it was ruining our generation.
