Kamau says that the sector offers a wide range of opportunities which can be tapped and help the youths in getting employment.

Speaking at the Ikinu open grounds during the inauguration of Ikinu Jua Kali Youths association, Kamau said that there are several job opportunities that the youth can create through the technical industries.

During the event, more than 200 youths registered as members vowed to enhance their skills once they get training.

The administrator urged the youths to have keen interest in the sector as the white collar jobs are on decline.

“The government cannot absorb all the graduates in main stream of employment. There is need to look for other alternative employment areas,” said Kamau.

Speaking after being elected the chairman of the association, John Njue said that the Jua Kali sector has played a great role in reducing unemployment among the youth and women.

“We have a lot of courses in the Jua Kali sector like mechanics, wiring, welding, knitting and many others which can benefit youths,” said Njue.

He urged the youths to be employers not job seekers once they get Jua Kali training.
