Garissa Sub County Deputy Commissioner (DCC) Hiddi Galgalo has pleaded with youth to champion peace as the country heads to the August 8 general election.
Addressing youth in Garissa Town on Wednesday, Galgalo said that young people hold the key to the country’s peace.
He urged the youth not to be used or swayed by rogue politicians to cause or fuel violence.
Galgalo said that some politicians are taking advantage of youth vulnerability to use them as agents of violence.
He asked youth to report to police any politician or person who will approach them with the intention of recruiting them as agents of violence.
The sub county deputy commissioner said that police will not spare rogue politicians who are fueling divisive politics.
He appealed to political aspirants to adhere to the election code of conduct as they woo for votes.
The deputy county commissioner said security agencies are keenly monitoring campaign, adding that aspirants flouting the law will have themselves to blame.
Galgalo assured residents that security will be enhanced before, during and after the August 8 polls.
