Former Kitutu Masaba MP Walter Nyambati has termed the incumbent Nyamira Governor John Nyagarama a ‘good’ person but a ‘failure’ in development.
Speaking in his Nyaikuro backyard on Wednesday, Nyambati blamed Nyagarama for the alleged stagnated growth in the county and also questioned the ‘authenticity’ of projects launched by the county government.
“My friend John (Nyagarama) is a good man for those who don’t know him. He has a clean heart for the people of Nyamira but he is a failure in development matters,” Nyambati said.
“We have never seen mega projects three years down the line and that is a big concern. Many roads, health centres and many other projects have stalled. Some of these projects been launched but they are just part of public relations exercises,” he added.
The Jomo Kenyatta Foundation chairman and a key ally of President Uhuru Kenyatta joined the Nyamira gubernatorial race recently.
He urged residents to vote him in 2017 elections based on his previous track record and the ability to unite all residents.
“Mr Nyagarama has managed to divide our county along clans and this isn’t a good start. Time has come for him to rest because he is a person with good will but little ideas. I am ready to take Nyamira where it desires,” said the former MP.
He defended his record as MP for Kitutu Masaba, and accused his opponents of spreading propaganda against his candidature.
“People are panicking ever since I joined the race. My record in Bogetutu was a clean one and all records are there to confirm. I was only voted out due to an ODM wave,” he said.
