Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa has severely criticized the National government over for what she called as gender discrimination in the government agencies.
Speaking in Malindi during a funds drive for Women Empowerment Groups the outspoken lawmaker said that the National government has taken women for a ride in employment positions, saying women will only be recognized as potential people if they are given chances to lead.
“It is a pity to see women a being sidelines during job allocation especially in our current government, what happened when our president was giving jobs, last time should never be encouraged, we have women whom I believe move around with degrees and masters like men, why should such women be discriminated?” She asked.
According to the MP, the female gender has for long been allocated to non-employment, as well as in remote blocks, including continuous academic development, arguing that there are currently qualified women candidates who are ready to lead in their respective counties.
She said that majority of those who depend and look forward to women normally succeed in life, adding that president Uhuru Kenyatta to move in and work with female gender for this country to prosper.
“I want to openly advise my President Uhuru Kenyatta, that if he want to leave a legacy during this last period of his second term as a president, he should just do one thing, give women more chances in his government and be ready to work with them, there is no doubt women are there who can work in any related field being handled by men,” she said.
At the same time she accused her opponents who she alleged that they have been misleading the public saying that she has invested much in speaking rather than in actions, telling her opponents to keep off adding that the fact one is a politician you cannot run away from politics, which goes hand in hand with developments projects.
However, she said there was a need for politicians in coast region to work with the National governments for sake of local Mwanachi saying that come 2022 Coast region will be no longer an opposition zone.
“We have for long time been voting for the opposition and the rewards we are getting cannot even boost our living standards, life has been the same year in year out, but as I stand here before you, I want to assure you that coast region will stand out and be counted in forming the government come 2022 and we are all behind the Deputy president William Ruto,” she added.
During the fund drive which was attended by Senate Speaker Ken Lusaka, Magarini MP Michael Kingi, and Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa more that Sh7 million was raised.
