Garissa Governor hopeful Rtd Major General Bashir Haji has asked incumbent Nathif Jama to shelve hopes of winning re-election on August 8.

Bashir, who is eyeing the Garissa top seat on Amani National Congress (ANC) party, claims that governor Jama is not fit for re-election.

According to the aspirant, Garissa is still poor and nothing has changed in the last four years under Governor Jama’s rule.

The Rtd Major general said that the county is still grappling with pathetic roads, poor healthcare systems, unemployment, insecurity, and marginalization of some clans and communities.

Bashir accused Jama of failing to fulfill the pledges he made to locals in the run up to the 2013 general election.

“He promised to create thousands of jobs, promote healthcare, boost the economy and address insecurity but he has done little to fulfill the promises,” Bashir said.

He said that Garissa locals will be subjected to more poverty if Governor Jama wins re-election.

He appealed to residents to make wise decisions and endorse leaders who are capable of delivering on development.

The governor hopeful urged residents not to be swayed by empty promises being made by governor Jama and other aspirants.

Bashir, who is younger brother to Senator Yusuf Haji promised to spearhead key development projects and make the county an economic and industrial hub.

He urged residents to trust and vote for him on August 8 promising revolutionary change.

The Garissa governor top seat is among those with competition with political analysts saying the quest for the top seat is a two horse race between governor Jama and former PS Ali Bunow Korane who is vying on jubilee party ticket.
