Politician Nicholas Zani is the latest entrant in the race for speaker of Kwale County assembly.
Zani who lost the ODM party ticket to vie for the Senate seat in the just-ended national elections told the Star on Sunday he had consulted widely before making his announcement.
For instance, top on the agenda during his meeting with county ODM officials were the August 8 polls as well as the drafting of a plan for the party in the region.
Zani’s entry itno the speaker's race, the daily added, is seen as part of an effort to ensure the National Super Alliance (NASA) controls the county assembly as they strategise for 2022.
Apart from Zani, the two other candidates eyeing the speaker’s post are former speaker Sammy Ruwa and Rafael Chimera, a lawyer.
NASA has 13 MCAs in the assembly while Jubilee Party has seven.
