Zetech University conferred its first group of degree students following the receipt of the award letter of interim authority to operate as a university in 2014 at a graduation ceremony held at the University main campus. 

"We have in place a strategy to build on infrastructure projects in collaboration with various partners to ensure our learners are thoroughly equipped for the marketplace,” said Prof Susan Nkinyangi, Zetech University Chancellor, at the graduation ceremony at the main campus in Ruiru on November 10, 2017.

This year’s ceremony where 2,481 students graduated after successfully completing courses in ICT, engineering, business, media and communication, hospitality and tourism and development studies focused on the impact of academic excellence on leadership and development.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof Edwin Wamukoya, emphasized that the drive to provide access to quality higher education to students from Kenya and beyond has stood firm over the years.

He said that in keeping with the demand for quality higher education, the university has plans in place to incorporate additional science-based programmes so as to produce students who are innovative and solution-driven. “Over the years this university has grown its undergraduate student base, boosted by the government’s 2016 move to have private universities admit through

The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS), he said adding that 470 students were admitted in 2016 while 635 students were admitted to the university this year through the initiative.

“This year we are proud to confer our inaugural group of degree graduates in business and ICT programmes as we cement plans to build our portfolio of science and technology courses designed to meet market demands,” said Professor Wamukoya.

The chief guest, Joe Muganda, Group Chief Executive Officer, Nation Media group, encouraged the graduating class to dream big and actively take part in advancing economic and leadership development in the world.

The ceremony featured an award session sponsored by various partners who honoured the best-performing students in academics and extra-curricular activities to celebrate the exemplary work and motivate current students with Mercy Opata Imrai receiving the overall best award.
