Kenya Premier League champions Gor Mahia were on Sunday held by Zoo Kericho in a Sportpesa Premier League match played at the Afraha Stadium.

The match ended 1-1.

Golden Boot aspirant Meddie Kagere did his course plenty of good with a powerful shot past Zoo goalkeeper Vincent Misikhu to break the deadlock midway through the first half.

The hosts, however, replied 10 minutes later when second-half replacement Kepha Ondati shot from six yards out following a goalmouth melee to grab his third goal of the season.

At the Kasarani Stadium in Nairobi, Mathare United beat Nzoia Sugar 1-0.

Mathare went ahead in the 15th minute through former Tusker midfielder Samuel Olwande’s penalty kick given after Nzoia’s Festus Okiring had elbowed Cliff Nyakeya inside the box.

Relegation fighting Mathare desperately needed this win to help them survive and you could see the relief of the players at the final whistle.
