Deputy President William Samoei Ruto is definitely one among the few who rose from humble backgrounds to become the most formidable politician in Kenya.
His virtual dominance in the rich Rift valley vote basket has raised his stature a level where he is currently the country's second in command. During the Wednesday national breakfast prayers, Ruto made a confession that definitely has big lessons for Kenyans to learn;
1. Nothing is permanent
DP Ruto disclosed that his family was so humble that some basics were just but luxury. For instance, at his tender age, he went barefoot because his parents couldn't afford. But today, he can afford multiple designer pairs; no situation is permanent.
2. Hard work rewards
In desperate bid to make ends meet, DP Ruto peddled groundnuts and poultry products in the streets of Eldoret town. With this hard work and dedication, Ruto is now a billionaire.
This attests that hard work can move one from rags to riches.
3. Prayer is key
While defending his 'huge' donations to the church, Ruto underscored the fact that God had seen him through the most turbulent of times to where he is today. This alone should remind one that prayer and faith are key ingredients to personal success.
